After Eden
Therapy Group for Women Leaving the LDS Church
Leaving your faith is just the beginning.
What follows after leaving the LDS Church or stepping away from Mormonism can be overwhelming: grief, guilt, confusion about who you are, and the fear of disappointing those around you. The loss of structure, however limiting or controlling it once felt, can leave you feeling untethered and unsure of what comes next.
After Eden is an 8-week online therapy group for women in Arizona and Washington who are deconstructing Mormonism, navigating a faith transition, or exploring life after leaving the LDS Church. Held over a confidential telehealth platform, it's a supportive space to tell the truth, name the harm, and gently reclaim what was always yours: your voice, your values, and your inner knowing.
Whether you are newly ex-Mormon or years into your faith deconstruction journey, you don’t have to untangle it alone. This group offers community, understanding, and guidance for women healing from religious trauma and rebuilding their identity after Mormonism.
Facilitated by Kelsey Laulainen, MA, LMHC, LPC, a licensed therapist specializing in religious trauma and faith transition.

Frequently Asked Questions
What is religious trauma?
Religious trauma is the lasting emotional, psychological, and sometimes physical distress that can result from harmful religious experiences — including high-control teachings, shame, fear-based messaging, and the loss of community or identity when leaving a faith. It can show up as anxiety, guilt, difficulty trusting yourself, or grief.
What does it mean to deconstruct your faith?
Faith deconstruction is the process of critically examining the beliefs you were raised with, questioning which ones still feel true, and rebuilding your sense of meaning and identity on your own terms. For many women leaving Mormonism, it includes grieving what was lost and reclaiming a sense of self.
Is this group only for people who have fully left the Church?
No. It's open to women who have left, are in the process of leaving, or are questioning and exploring a faith transition. You're welcome wherever you are in the process.
Is the group religious, or anti-Mormon?
Neither. No spiritual affiliation is required, and the group is not about attacking anyone's beliefs. It's a trauma-informed space to process your own experience, honor your identity, and decide what you want to keep or release.
How much does the group cost and how long does it run?
After Eden is $340 for the full 8-week program (about $42 per session). It meets online on Wednesdays from 9:00–10:30 AM, beginning July 8 through August 26, 2026.
How big is the group?
It's capped at 8 women to keep the space intimate and safe.
How do I know if it's a good fit before signing up?
Kelsey offers a free 15-minute video consultation to answer your questions and explore whether the group is right for you. Click here to schedule a consultation.
Is there a discounted rate?
Currently, I do not offer a discounted rate for group therapy.
What is your cancellation policy?
Full payment is due at registration to confirm your spot in the group. If you need to withdraw before the group begins, you'll receive a full refund if you cancel by July 1, 2026 (one week before the start date). After that date, fees are non-refundable, including for any sessions you're unable to attend.
What if the group doesn’t reach the minimum enrollment?
If the group doesn’t fill up by July 1, 2026, you will be notified and a refund for your payment will be issued in full.
