EMDR Intensives

Deeper Healing. Faster. On Your Terms.

Sometimes weekly therapy feels like the right pace. And sometimes you're ready to go deeper, faster – to dedicate real, focused time to the trauma that's been living in your body and shaping your life.

EMDR Intensives are for that moment.

What is EMDR?

EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing) is a highly researched, evidence-based therapy designed to help people heal from trauma. Unlike talk therapy, EMDR works directly with the way traumatic memories are stored in the nervous system, allowing your brain to reprocess painful experiences so they lose their grip on your present life.

It is especially effective for:

  • Religious trauma and spiritual abuse

  • Complex PTSD and childhood trauma

  • Sexual trauma

  • Anxiety rooted in specific traumatic experiences

  • Shame and self-worth wounds

What Makes an Intensive Different?

In traditional weekly therapy, sessions are 50 minutes — which often means spending significant time getting back into the work each week. An EMDR Intensive compresses that process, allowing you to stay immersed in healing for an extended period.

Instead of spreading the work across months, we dedicate focused half-day or full-day sessions to a specific trauma target. Many clients find they make progress in an intensive that would have taken six months to a year of weekly sessions.

What Does an Intensive Look Like?

Every intensive is customized to you. Here's how the process typically works:

  • Intake and Planning: We begin with a thorough intake session to assess your history, identify trauma targets, and ensure EMDR is appropriate for you at this time

  • The Intensive Sessions: Extended sessions (typically 2–4 hours) with built-in breaks for grounding and integration

  • Integration Support: A follow-up session to process what came up and support your integration

Intensives are offered in a half-day or full-day format and can be completed over one or multiple days depending on your needs and goals.

An EMDR Intensive may be a good fit if:

  • You've been in weekly therapy but feel stuck or ready to go deeper

  • You have a specific traumatic memory or period you want to target

  • Your schedule makes weekly therapy difficult to maintain

  • You're preparing for or recovering from a major life transition

  • You want to accelerate your healing in a focused, supported way

FAQs

Do I need prior therapy experience to do an intensive?

Not necessarily, but some existing coping skills and capacity for stabilization are important. We'll assess this together in our intake session.

Will I feel worse before I feel better?

It's common to feel some emotional activation after EMDR processing. This is a normal part of the healing process. We'll build in grounding and closing techniques, and I'll provide support resources for between sessions.

Is EMDR available in person?

Yes and no. Weekly therapy sessions are currently only offered via telehealth for clients in Arizona and Washington. However, intensive sessions can be requested to be in person depending on my schedule and client needs.
